This course is designed to give the student a basic understanding of the concepts of Medical- Surgical Nursing including the definition and etiology of diseases/disorders, methods of diagnosis, signs and symptoms, treatment and nursing care, including aspects of pharmacology and nutrition. Emphasis is placed on the nursing process. The course is organized by functioning systems and is arranged so that the presentation of the systems advances from simple to complex. Introduction to Mental Health will be part of Medical-Surgical Nursing 1.
